Why “FILMIC”?
At Rowe Films, we have spent a long time trying to emulate the soul of film. An analogue vibe that we feel, during the digital revolution, was somewhat lost.
As we have written about before, there is just something special about the look of film that is hard to put your finger on, describe in words, and even harder to emulate with digital imagery.
In our own professional work, we are always striving to achieve the highest possible production value. We want our work to look and feel expensive. Of course there are many ingredients that contribute towards that, but we strongly believe a professional colour grade is a big part of the puzzle!
Often, our approach to that is to try to emulate the look and feel of classic cinema, which up until the last couple of decades, was shot exclusively on celluloid film. Up until very recently, top quality colour work was available only to productions with the biggest budgets. Not anymore!
With colour grading being one of our personal favourite parts of the video production process, we have obsessed over it. Years of learning, practice, and real world experience later, we love to be able to share these looks with others.
