Charity Video Production in the South West: Our Ongoing Work with Age UK Devon
Charity Video Production in Devon
Our Ongoing Work with Age UK Devon
Marking a Milestone
Last year, Age UK Devon celebrated 75 years of supporting older people across the county. To mark the occasion, the charity held an anniversary event at Buckfast Abbey in Mid Devon, bringing together staff, volunteers, and supporters to reflect on their history, achievements, and the people behind their work.
As a Devon based video production business, Rowe Films was commissioned to capture the event and produce a highlights film, capturing the events of the day and the stories that were shared. From heartfelt speeches to moments of connection between volunteers and service users, the video we produced provides Age UK Devon with a lasting record of the celebration while helping them connect with their wider community.
Beyond the Anniversary: A Growing Collaboration
The anniversary event marked the beginning of a broader partnership between Rowe Films and Age UK Devon.
Since the event, we have worked closely with the charity to create a series of videos and films to support their wider operations. So far, we have produced;
A short film titled ‘What Does Age UK Devon Mean To You?’, an emotive short film designed to communicate the big picture from the perspective of those delivering the services.
A volunteering campaign video that will be used to encourage more people across Devon to volunteer their time and support.
A series of service focused videos for their website, to help clearly explain who they are, the services they provide, and the support available to those that need it.
Our approach from the beginning has been to root the film and video content in authenticity and warmth. The people behind the charity are genuinely extraordinary individuals who have dedicated their lives to improving later life experiences for older people. It was imperative to get that across to audiences in an authentic manner.
The charity’s mission is one that we feel strongly about on a personal level, and we have worked hard to reflect that humanity, meaning and purpose in every piece of film we have created for them.
Strategy & Impact
The aim of this ongoing collaboration is to provide Age UK Devon with a library of films they can use to promote their services, raise awareness, support fundraising, and strengthen community engagement. By telling the charity’s story and journey through purposeful filmmaking, we can show the deeply personal impact it has on people’s lives.
The films created so far are already supporting Age UK Devon in achieving key objectives. From attracting new funding and encouraging much needed new volunteers, to raising awareness and helping older people understand the services available to them.
From the beginning, it was clear to us that one of the charity’s greatest challenges is geography. As far as regions of England go, Devon is a huge (and largely rural) county, and many of the people who need their support most can be incredibly difficult to reach.
By producing accessible and emotionally engaging content, the aim is to extend the charity’s reach beyond traditional channels, ensuring vital information travels further, resonates more deeply, and connects with those who might otherwise remain isolated.
Video content is the most powerful and cost-effective way to achieve this, and the charity now have valuable assets that they can continue to use for months or even years to come.
We hope this growing catalogue of work will play an important role in helping Age UK Devon reach more people, strengthen community support, and ensure the charity are able to grow their network and reach.
Introducing: ‘Every Story Matters’ Film Campaign
Looking ahead, we are currently developing a new series of short films titled ‘Every Story Matters’.
This upcoming project will share real stories from older people who use Age UK Devon’s services; Individuals with rich life experiences, unique histories, and powerful personal journeys. Each film will highlight the lives they have lived, the challenges they have overcome, and the wisdom they carry.
From remarkable careers and personal milestones, to moments of loss, resilience, humour, and connection, these films will celebrate individuality, and dignity of later life. In such a rapidly changing world, these real stories really do matter.
By focusing on authentic voices and lived experience, Every Story Matters will offer a deeply human perspective on ageing, challenging stereotypes, while showing the vital role community support plays in helping people remain independent, connected, and valued.
In this day and age, modern society can leave older people feeling left behind, invisible, and irrelevant. The world moves so fast, and technology advances on almost a weekly basis. In our opinion, this trend risks increasing problems associated with isolation and disconnection.
As a consequence, we believe it’s never been more important for the experiences and wisdom that come with age to be heard, and for all of us to connect on more of a human level. After all, as we all inevitably age, many if not most of us will one day find ourselves in need of increased support and services for older people.
For these reasons, we are hugely looking forward to getting our teeth stuck into the Every Story Matters campaign and continuing our meaningful work with the charity.
Why This Work Matters To Rowe Films
The Age UK projects form part of our ongoing charity video production work in Devon and across the wider South West.
At Rowe Films, we believe film and video are unique in their ability to spread important messages far and wide, build true understanding, strengthen communities, and amplify the voices of those whose stories get lost in the madness of the modern world, but strongly deserve to be heard.
Video is one of the most powerful ways to share a meaningful message. Not only because it engages audiences on an emotional level, but also because digital platforms increasingly prioritise video content, helping important messages reach wider and more diverse audiences.
As a production business, we are drawn to stories rooted in authenticity, meaning, and purpose. The work we are carrying out with Age UK Devon embodies all of these qualities, making it a particularly meaningful and worthwhile partnership for us.
As video producers working throughout Exeter and the South West, we are proud to support charities and organisations through thoughtful storytelling, cinematic filmmaking, and professional video production services.
If your organisation is looking for video production in Devon and Cornwall, the South West, or nationally, we’d love to discuss how we can help tell your story.
We look forward to sharing more Age UK Devon content and video productions as the next stage of our partnership develops!
