Autumn
A Cinematic Short Film
Last weekend I shot my very last wedding of 2019. What a season it’s been. So many incredible weddings, amazing couples, stunning venues and locations. At this time of year its all about catching up with the editing backlog that builds up over the busy summer months. I absolutely love editing wedding films, but working on one after another can be quite challenging sometimes. As filmmaking is very much a creative process, you can’t just ‘turn it on’. Sometimes you sit down to edit and nothing works. You can’t just make it happen, so the only option is to leave it there, do something else for a while and come back to it later.
For this reason, it can be very beneficial to have a little side project. Something else to keep your creativity flowing, a ‘passion project’, if you like. Being able to go out somewhere nice, just you and your camera, really helps to break up the editing marathons. That’s why earlier in the year, I decided I wanted to make a cinematic short film of Autumn here in the beautiful South West of England. I absolutely love creating cinematic visuals, and there’s no better time to do that than in the Autumn. The colours are to die for, and as the days are getting shorter, sunrise and sunset both fall at reasonable times of the day, which means getting up to catch a sunrise isn’t stupidly early!
I’ve already made a start capturing some footage for the film, and I intend to spend the next few weeks taking little trips out here and there, to some of my favourite locations in the region. It’s all about waiting for the right weather conditions, so i’ll be making use of any opportunities the weather gods give me. There’s nothing better than getting out on those beautiful frosty autumn mornings!
The finished film should land sometime in December, so keep an eye out. But for now, here’s a little sneak peak!
