Cinematic preview - Nicola & Tom
CINEMATIC WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHY
SHILSTONE HOUSE, DEVON
Despite having their similarities, every single wedding is different and unique in its own way. My latest wedding shoot was no exception. This is why weddings are so amazing and why they are so much fun to shoot. I really do have the best job in the world!
On Friday I had the pleasure of shooting Nicola & Tom's wedding at Shilstone House, a beautiful Manor House in the depths of the Devon countryside. As I have said many times before, we really are spoiled for choice here in the South West for stunning wedding locations. From beaches and barns, to napoleonic forts and manor houses. Shilstone House is a stunning example of a country Manor House wedding venue. Set in rolling hills of the Devon countryside, close to Plymouth and Dartmoor, it has so much to offer. Tiered gardens, ponds, barns and of course the beautiful house itself. This was my first time at Shilstone house as a Wedding Videographer, and I really hope to return soon.
Right from the off I could tell Nicola & Tom's wedding was going to be a wild one. I arrived in the morning to shoot the bridal preparations, and the girls were pretty much in full party mode. From the very beginning, right up until late, the day was full of love, laughter, and quite possibly the best atmosphere I have personally experienced yet on a wedding job.
I had previously met Nicola & Tom before the wedding day, and part of my job is to try to get a sense of the bride & groom's personality. I could tell these guys were unique. They had a passion for bikes, tattoos, and living life to the full. I went away from the meeting with real excitement and a sense that their wedding was going to be special.
The day flew by without a hitch, and everyone made me feel extremely welcome. Nicola's friend had hand painted a leather jacket for her in true biker style with the words 'just married' and roses emblazoned on the back. This was truly unique and allowed for some awesome shots! The party was finished off in style by local band 3 Bags Full, an awesome 3 piece party band. As you will see from the film, they went down very well indeed!
When it came to the editing of Nicola & Tom's wedding highlights film, the fun continued. I thoroughly enjoyed editing this and tried very hard to reflect their personality in the film. They were a unique couple but I could tell that Nic definitely also had a girly side to her.
For this reason, I decided to begin the film in my signature style, with buckets of atmosphere and plenty of emotion. I went for a truly cinematic, moody intro and used quite possibly one of my favourite opening shots to date, Nicola's beautiful dress walking down the main staircase in Shilstone House. But, I had to switch this film up, take some risks and push some boundaries. Nicola & Tom's personality called for it. So I tried to make the second half of the video explode instantaneously, and without warning. The result, a rather unique wedding film and tale of two halves. I absolutely love that I have been able to be so creative with this highlights film, and I'd like to thank Nicola and Tom for allowing me the freedom to do what I love the most!
I had real fun with this, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed editing it!
